Frequently Asked Questions.

What is your current rate for individual therapy?

$195 for a 55 minute session. I only take on a limited amount of clients so that I can give my very best in our sessions, and be available in between sessions if needed.

Some clients qualify for reimbursement through out-of-network insurance benefits. Please check with your insurance provider.

How do I pay for my sessions?

I utilize a Hipaa compliant online platform called Simple Practice. They handle my paperwork and billing. Through them, I am able to take any sort of credit or debit card, including FSA or HSA cards.

Do you take insurance and if not, why?

No, this is an out-of-pocket practice only currently. Insurance has the potential to dictate or even interfere with treatment, in addition to having access to some of your health information. By not working with insurance companies, my clients and I are able to determine what issues are worth addressing, how long we can work on them, and much more. More recently, insurance companies can also limit care to online services when they feel appropriate, while not taking into consideration what my clients and I feel is most appropriate.

Do you offer in-person counseling?

At the moment, all services are provided via Google Meet, Zoom, or phone. It is unclear whether we will resume in-person counseling in the future.

Is out-of-pocket therapy worth it?

Therapy helps us to transform ourselves and our lives. Finding a therapist that actually makes a lifelong impact on you is worth investing in. If you feel disconnected from your therapist or feel they cannot address your needs, it will certainly be more difficult to benefit from therapy. Having a strong therapeutic connection, and finding a therapist that is knowledgeable in the areas you need to address is worth the investment. Spending time with a therapist that does not help you, simply because they are a lower cost to you is not really saving you any money!

Do you offer sliding scale or reduced fee therapy?

I do not currently offer lower cost sessions. Some clients are able to use out-of- network benefits or even grants to reduce the cost of their therapy greatly. With that said, I encourage all people considering therapy to explore financially how much they are able or willing to spend as sometimes we unnecessarily limit ourselves! If you are struggling to find a clinician within your price range though, I recommend looking into Open Path for a directory of clinicians with low fee slots available!

Do you work with clients who are not creative professionals?

My goal in marketing is not just to get my name out there, but to reach the right type of clients for me. Due to my background, I know that I am able to connect with artists more easily than other clinicians, and better able to have a deeper understanding of them. By being specific in my writing, I am more likely to find clients that I am uniquely suited to help. In addition, with a shortage of clinicians that provide services for artists specifically, I feel it is my mission to get the message out there that they are not alone. With that said, just like in real life, it is not always the tangible qualities that connect us! If a colleague feels that a client may be a good fit for me, or if you feel a connection from this site, I encourage you to trust that instinct! Often the gut knows best.

Is Online Counseling worth it?

There is no doubt there is an absolute need for it! For many clients, video or telephonic therapy is the only option. Whether it is because of chronic illness, a pandemic, or social anxiety, having online therapy as an option makes it possible to get treatment when it would otherwise not be possible. It may feel different in some ways, but it is still beneficial and still is considered treatment! Most of my clients have made the adjustment seamlessly, and I believe you can too!
